Join presenter Henri Grau and members from NM MaM board for an in person trilingual focused workshop. For these two hours Henri will cover common English intrusions, practice visualizing and retaining information, and practice strategies to improve use of space, affect, vocabulary, register, accurate ASL grammar and Deaf culture, and much more.

Teaming with Trilingual Interpreters: The Bilingual Role
Join presenters Orlando Obeso and Amanda Lujan and members of the NM MaM board for a wonderful 3 hour in person presentation. This workshop will cover various Spanish influenced settings that interpreters may encounter during their career. Orlando and Amanda will discuss teaming strategies for interpreters to implement into their work. Participants will also have the chance to interpret in mock scenarios during this workshop.

Coordinators and schedulers of interpreting services in NM are invited to this 2.5 hour workshop to understand our roles and responsibilities to promote cultural competency in Spanish-influenced interpreting settings. To gain community awareness by educating the public about trilingual interpreting and advocate for appropriate policies. As well as to provide feedback about what supports are needed to advance the coordinating of trilingual interpreting assignments.

An Intro to LSM

Come join us in learning some basic Mexican Sign Language signs and phrases at this interactive workshop! Participants will have the opportunity to identify and incorporate some LSM signs when working with Mexican Deaf individuals in a fun environment. No previous knowledge of Spanish or LSM is required. Workshop will be presented in LSM only.
